  1. 1. IMPORTANT START-UP INFORMATION
  2. ----------------------------------
  3.    The CCIZip software package assumes that McAfee Scan and PKWare 
  4. software is in your DOS environment path.  However, the program 
  5. does not enforce this.  If you choose not to keep any of the support 
  6. programs in your path, then run the Path Setup option from the Options 
  7. menu item to inform CCIZip where the support programs are.  After this, 
  8. CCIZip will store the information in an .INI file so it will always 
  9. know where to find the support programs.

  12. 2. INTRODUCTION
  13. ----------------
  14.    CCIZip is a program that adds a new dimension of file management
  15. to your Windows environment.  With the magnitude of Windows software
  16. getting bigger every day, it becomes annoying to have to shell out
  17. to DOS to perform simple file management - like zipping a few files.
  18.  
  19.    Zip files are the standard format for transferring files across
  20. bulletin boards and other networks.  Heavy windows users currently 
  21. have to shell out to DOS after they download a ZIP file so they can 
  22. UNZIP the file in the appropriate location.  It is the intent of this
  23. program to eliminate all shelling to DOS and allow the user to
  24. perform all ZIP file management in the simple, easy to use Windows
  25. program.

  27.    Unfortunately, all computer owners must beware of viruses 
  28. that could infect their computers.  McAfee software provides an industry
  29. standard virus scanning program that attempts to make your computer
  30. "Virus Free".  The programmers at the Creative Consortium Inc. have 
  31. decided to support the McAfee software also.  With CCIZip you can
  32. search the contents of a ZIP file for viruses without ever leaving
  33. the Windows application.

  35.    The basic functionality of CCIZip is not unique.  There are 
  36. several other shareware programs that provide Windows front-ends
  37. to PKWare and McAfee utility programs.  However, CCIZip offers an
  38. unmatched combination of functionality and useability.  In addition, 
  39. NONE of the other shell programs support EVERY SINGLE option that 
  40. PKWare and McAfee offer.  CCIZip supports all of the PKWare and most 
  41. of the McAfee options.  Thus, you will never have to use another 
  42. program to perform a complicated ZIP file management task.

  45. 3. PROGRAM OPERATION
  46. ---------------------
  47.    CCIZip is a very simple program to use.  The screen is partitioned
  48. into three parts.  These are:
  49.  
  50.    3.1 MENU BAR
  51.    -------------
  52.       The options on the menu bar are your way of setting all of the
  53.    command line paramaters for the ZIP, UNZIP, and SCAN programs.
  54.    Items like passwords, default paths, etc. are all set from the 
  55.    menu bar.

  57.    3.2 BROWSERS
  58.    -------------
  59.       The CCIZip screen consists of two browsers, the DIRECTORY 
  60.    BROWSER and the ZIP BROWSER.  The DIRECTORY BROWSER provides
  61.    a way for the user to 'browse' through their file system.  
  62.    Multiple files and directories can be selected from the DIR 
  63.    BROWSER.  Then, when the ZIP button is pressed all of the selected
  64.    files will be zipped.  If a directory was selected and the Zip 
  65.    recursive option was chosen then all of the files in that
  66.    directory that match the chosen wildcards will be zipped.  If the
  67.    recursive option was not on, then all of the files in the selected
  68.    directory will be zipped.

  70.       The buttons on the top of each browser allow you to:
  71.        SELECT:   This will allow you to select wildcards to be zipped.
  72.        UNSELECT: This will allow you to unselect files.
  73.        MKDIR:    This will create a directory off of the current
  74.                  directory in the current browser.
  75.        DELETE:   This will either delete files from the directory or
  76.                  delete files from within a ZIP file.
  77.        SWITCH:   This will cause the opposite browser to switch its
  78.                  current directory so that it is the same as the 
  79.                  active browsers directory.

  81.       The ZIP BROWSER is functionally the same as the DIR BROWSER with
  82.    a few exceptions.  The ZIP BROWSER only shows Zip files and
  83.    directories.  If a Zip file is double clicked, the ZIP BROWSER
  84.    will show the contents of the selected ZIP file.  If you are 
  85.    viewing the contents of the ZIP file and Delete was chosen, then
  86.    the selected files within the ZIP file will be deleted.

  88.    3.3 MAIN PANEL
  89.    --------------
  90.       The Main Panel contains eight buttons that perform the following
  91.    functions:

  93.       ZIP:      Clicking this button will cause all of the selected
  94.                 files of the DIRECTORY BROWSER to be zipped to the
  95.                 current directory of the ZIP BROWSER.  If you are 
  96.                 viewing the contents of a zip file in the ZIP BROWSER,
  97.                 then the files being zipped will be added to the open
  98.                 zip file.  Otherwise, a new zip file will be created.

  100.       UNZIP:    Clicking this button will cause the selected zip file
  101.                 of the ZIP BROWSER to be unzipped into current directory
  102.         the DIRECTORY BROWSER.  If the selected zip file was 
  103.         being viewed, then the selected files within the zip 
  104.         file will be unzipped.  Otherwise, the entire zip file 
  105.         will be    unzipped.

  107.       SCAN:     Clicking this button will cause the selected zip file
  108.                 of the ZIP BROWSER to be scanned for viruses.

  110.       VIEW:     Clicking this button will cause the selected zip file
  111.                 of the ZIP BROWSER to be completely viewed.

  113.       COMMENT:  Clicking this button will allow you to add zip file
  114.                 comments to the selected zip file of the ZIP BROWSER.

  116.       FIX:      Clicking the button will run a damaged zip file through
  117.                 the PKZipFix program to attempt to fix any errors.

  119.       ZIP2EXE:  Clicking this button will cause the selected zip file
  120.                 of the ZIP BROWSER to be run through the ZIP2EXE program
  121.         to create a self extracting archive file.

  123.       TEST:     Clicking this button will cause the selected zip file
  124.                 of the ZIP BROWSER to have its 'ZIP File Integrity'
  125.                 tested.

  128. 4. REGISTRATION:

  130.    CCIZip is not free.  If you continue to use this program after 30 days
  131. it is required that you send $25 dollars to:

  143.    1.  This is version 1.0 of this program.  There are plans to upgrade
  144.        the program to add a considerable amount of new functionality and 
  145.        an improved interface.  With the added functionality that will be 
  146.        in future versions of this program, it will directly compete with
  147.        several off the shelf products.  If you register now, you will be
  148.        entitled to all new releases of the shareware program for FREE.  This
  149.        can only benefit you because future versions of the program will cost
  150.        more money.  So register now!
